About IGF-DES
IGF-DES is a naturally occurring truncated form of insulin-like growth factor 1 that lacks the N-terminal tripeptide Gly-Pro-Glu, leaving 67 amino acids. It was first identified in bovine colostrum and in brain tissue.
Losing the glutamic acid at position 3 greatly weakens binding to IGF-binding proteins, so IGF-DES is more potent than intact IGF-1 wherever binding proteins are present. The released tripeptide, Gly-Pro-Glu (GPE), is studied separately as a neuroactive peptide.

IGF-DES is used in cell-culture and receptor-signaling research, particularly where IGF-binding proteins would otherwise blunt the response to IGF-1, and in comparisons with IGF-1 LR3.
