About Melanotan I (Afamelanotide)
Melanotan I keeps the full 13-amino-acid length of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone but replaces methionine at position 4 with norleucine and L-phenylalanine at position 7 with D-phenylalanine. The two substitutions make it considerably more stable and potent than native α-MSH.
